Here’s my little Dukefish, being fabulously sassy as he always is~
He became severely bloated about a month ago and after a lengthy fasting-and-pea session, I was afraid I was battling a failing battle with Dropsy. He became sluggish and stayed at the bottom of the tank most of the time. He also lost a lot of his pretty red color. There was a point where his belly was as big as Skittle. :x
After having no luck with the pea, I moved him to a small bowl and followed a Dropsy “remedy” I found that required treating his water and frequent bowl cleanings. I fasted and pea treated again, and eventually, his belly gradually went down.Here, it is full of delicious brine shrimp. :P He’s not 100%, still a bit round, but I can definitely tell he’s feeling better. He’s wiggling around like a maniac again, he’s gotten his color back, and even felt good enough to flare for me tonight! :’D

Thought I’d upload some pictures of my new babby, Duke (Wellington) hurhur. :B
He’s a pretty little Crowntail Betta. We brought him home from work yesterday and he seems to be adjusting nicely. <3

Lookie Lookie! :D

So, this is my tank setup as of yesterday!

I picked up some little pieces of “C” and “T” PVC pipe and a rock cave for hiding places, as well as all of those colorful silk plants. And I just stumbled upon those gemstone rocks buried in my closet, so I washed them up and stuck them in there as well!

I actually took the pair of glasses out since I took this, because I wasn’t sure if it was completely safe… anyone have any input on that? I thought it’d be neat in there, but I wasn’t sure if the plastic would be okay for the water? :T

Also yeah lol, my bandana from the SG dance will serve as a backdrop until I have a chance to draw something super trippy :P

EDIT: Also, pay no attention to the giant bowl of suckers. None whatsoever. :U
Tank get!

So, I bought a 3 gallon aquarium today while stopping to get some ice cream to deliver to my mouth and also some for Matt lol.

I’ve been seeing a lot of contradicting info on how many gallons I’d need for a single betta, but the general consensus seems to say 3 gallons is… okay for them. I’ve seen them in much smaller enclosures, but I didn’t want anything smaller than what I got because it just seems too small. I think he’ll be fine in there since I only plan on having a single fish in there.

Anyway, gonna pick up a heater and some decorations tomorrow at work and then start cycling this tank for when I get me my new babby. <3

Also I will pictures when it’s all set up!

So.

I kinda want to get a betta fish.

From what I’ve read so far, they don’t seem too hard to keep, especially for non-fish savvy folks like me, and I’ve really been missing having something to take care of. I might read up a bit more on them… and stop looking at all these cute betta pictures. ;u;
